Why you might need 3D markers
When scanning objects with uniform textures, such as plastic housings, metal parts, smooth consumer products or reflective surfaces, traditional 3D scanning can struggle. The scanner needs stable reference points to understand the object’s geometry over time. Revopoint 3D Markers provide a dense pattern of contrasting dots that the scanner can detect frame by frame, improving tracking and overall accuracy.
Using markers is especially helpful when an object lacks natural features like edges, patterns or texture, which helps prevent drift, misalignment or missing sections in the final 3D model.
What’s included and how they work
The package contains 500 self-adhesive marker points. For medium to large objects, use the 3 mm markers and place them in an irregular pattern across the surface. Maintain a spacing of around 6 to 8 cm between markers and ensure that at least five markers remain visible in the scanner’s field of view during scanning.
Once applied, the markers act as high-contrast reference points that help the scanner track object movement and orientation. This results in improved stability, more accurate point cloud capture and better mesh reconstruction, even on smooth or reflective surfaces.
After the scan is completed, the markers can be removed without leaving residue, making them a practical and temporary solution for scanning preparation.
